That funky looking statue from Super Mario Odyssey that wear’s sunglasses has a name, and in Japanese, it’s Miruzou. As a bonus, here’s a CG render.
The edgy statue that Mario can possess in the Sand Kingdom doesn’t yet have an English name. But the Japanese name for this thing is deep.
“Miruzou”, is a wordplay based on the statues ability. The verb 見る「みる」 means “to see”, and the Japanese word for statue is 像「ゾウ」- hence, ミルゾウ literally means “seeing statue”. And as we know from previous gameplay videos, this statue lets you see hidden footprints. The more you know, right? That pun is almost as good as those pink glasses.
Good morning.
This new character, Miruzou, has been captured, and is now Capture Miruzou (lol).
These stoic pink sunglasses are his trademark. When you wear them like this, you can see footprints from afar easily.
おはようございます。

When you capture it, those peculiar glasses let you see things you can’t see! Can you see it?
